Both this, along with “Confessions,” are two of the most remarkable pieces of writing I’ve read all year. I too have a parent that supports Trump and basically hits all of the same toxic, cult-like marks that you’ve observed and describe, so it’s incredibly important that people such as myself are reassured from time to time that we’re not alone, and neither are you.
